Before training and qualifying as a small business
coach with the Coaching Academy, I developed a
highly successful entertainment and events agency
which I ran for 10 years before selling in 2006.
Within this position, I developed stories and
trained actors, finding a niche in the market for
innovative theatrical storytelling.
Before choosing these roles as business owner and
coach, I was an actress. My performances included
television roles, theatre tours ( lots of
Shakespeare!) adverts and stand up comedy! Theatre
training included mask work and comedia del'arte.
My
background in theatre enables me to bring a light
hearted creativity to the coaching and training
work.
Creative Ideas
-
Starting own company ‘The Action
Station’ in 1998 and turnover was, at sale, in
excess of £100, 000 per annum.
-
Recognising a gap in the market
in children’s entertainment & creating stories &
characters for actors to perform. Using
performance skills, gained from 10 years working
as an actress, auditioning & training the actors
to ensure a high quality of entertainment.
-
Establishing solid and consistent
working relationships with diverse range of
clients such as Bluewater, Disney, Surestart,
Councils, Hewlett Packard, Aon Ltd, Sky Media,
UK Film Council, Publishers (such as Hodder
Books), Commercial shopping Centres, Private
clients - celebrities, Banks, etc.
-
Taking Care of all aspects of a
small business from recruitment, to instructing
designers for website & leaflets, marketing,
invoicing, ordering & creating costumes to
coming up with solutions to the clients needs.
-
Currently writing Children’s
books for Publishers on a Freelance basis –
Author and Book Management on Fairytale Theatre
books.
-
Created own storytelling kits for
children.
Project
Management
Experience dealing with a high
volume of individual bookings and also larger
projects that required me on site to manage/deliver
the event.
Government / Council Projects –
Making sure events are managed to
council stipulations, safety requirements are
adhered to and programme of events reflects their
audience (local residents).
Commercial Events
– Collaborations with companies ie: Bluewater,
Disney, Deutsche Bank, etc.
These involved choosing a programme of entertainment
to suit all ages, putting together a team of
actors/entertainers that I felt worked together well
and organising a performance schedule. It was
necessary here also (as with other large events) to
visit the venue and coordinate positions of acts –
safety requirements and visibility of acts.
